DESCRIPTION: EPW - Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London, keyless free-sprung lever, 46mm, 18K gold original HC with theft-proof (swivel) pendant, case bearing London hallmarks for 1885, "H M F" marking in oval cameo for Harrison Mill Frodsham, five-knuckle hinges, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS with setting lever pressed inward and held while crown is turned, fully capped lever escapement, free-sprung balance with diamond endstone, 20-21J, gilt mvt, s#06458 with matching serial number to dial and within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 63.5 dwt (98.8 g). According to the Frodsham records summarized in Mercer's book, the movement was bought in from Moore in 1882.
CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking sluggishly, overhaul recommended, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, balance cock foot with some small fine scratches, main plate with some typical micro-fine scratches and bits of mild haze; dial with group of small perimeter hls at 9; fine hands, hour with some oxide at tip, minute with some oxide to tip and perimeter; case shows very light wear, micro-fine scratches, ding or nick to edge of band at 5 adjacent front lid, no dents; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
